Ernie Els won his first PGA Tour Champions occasion at simply the third time of asking when the 50-year-old South African won the Hoag Classic at Newport Beach Country Club in California.

Els completed with a 67 for a 16-under-standard aggregate for 54 gaps, for a two-stroke prevails upon Fred Couples, Robert Karlsson and Glen Day.

Els, who lost a play-off at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship in January, his first senior visit occasion, stated: “I’m happy to get the first off the beaten path. In the wake of being in a play-off in Hawaii, I would not like to miss this one up. I had an incredible chance and I’m pleased I had the option to take it.
