Callaway’s GPSy golf watch is a great golf GPS watch that has a ton of features that make it a great gadget on and off of the course. From the moment you arrive on the course, accuracy is one of the most important factors to consider. The GPSy will not disappoint you in this respect.
Because of its size and bulk, I had to take my last watch off after every round. Wearing the same watch all the time is the only thing I want. With its GPS capabilities, the Callaway GPSy Golf GPS Watch is a feature-rich watch that is useful both while golfing and off it. I like wearing it all the time since it’s a slim watch.
ON THE GREENS
Upon starting your round, the GPSy Golf GPS Watch automatically detects where you are on the course and displays valuable information that’s available at a touch of a button.
As you enter the “Golf Play Mode,” it immediately displays how far you are from the front, back, and middle of the green.
If you are behind the green, the distance from the front, back, and middle of the green will be displayed, so there’s no worry about overshooting.
Through the “Shot Distance” feature, you can use GPS to accurately determine the distance you had hit the ball when you exit the “Golf Play Mode.”
A golf course map database of about 30,000 courses is preloaded into the watch. Upon pulling into the parking lot, the watch automatically detects your course and starts collecting data.
HAZARD AND GREEN YARDAGES
This watch has tons of information on every course, including dogleg and bunker distances and hazards, allowing you to play the perfect shot and avoid hazards so you don’t end up in the water.
When in GPS mode, the watch will last 10-12 hours, which is comparable with other models, while in the non-GPS mode it lasts 90 days, making it ideal for off the course.
WHAT MAKES IT USEFUL OFF THE GREENS
Since I enjoy running and jogging when I am not golfing, I use the odometer function. For golfers who are active on the course and off it, this Golf GPS Watch is ideal.
The time is also displayed, of course! It may not sound like a big deal, but my last watch would sometimes be off by two hours because it was using satellite time. I’ve yet to encounter any inaccuracies in the GPSy Golf GPS Watch, which also uses satellite time.
As for the display, it’s quite large. There are 1.28 inches of clear glass, which is easy to see in the daytime and at night.
CALLAWAY GPSY GOLF GPS WATCH: DESIGN
Like a FitBit or smartwatch or one of those old Casio calculator watches, the GPSy Golf GPS Watch is designed like a golf GPS watch. This watch has a great design. Although it is thin and comfortable, it does not sacrifice any display clarity.
My round of golf isn’t complete without wearing this watch. With its clean and modern design, it fits into any setting. It is only for formal occasions that I take off the black one.
